CASA of the Illinois Valley: Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going
La Salle County CASA was built on a simple belief: one committed advocate can change the trajectory of a child’s life.
Through trained community volunteers appointed by judges, CASA advocates walk alongside children who have experienced abuse or neglect, learning their stories, speaking up for their needs, and helping ensure they are not overlooked while navigating the court and child welfare systems.
What began as a local effort to support children in La Salle County has grown into one rooted in advocacy, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves a voice.

As the program grew, so did the network of people committed to protecting children. CASA recruited, trained, and supported volunteers from across the community.
Advocates became trusted voices in the courtroom and in the lives of children, ensuring their needs, wishes, and well-being remained at the center of every decision.

Over the years, La Salle County CASA continued strengthening its partnerships with the court system, community organizations, donors, and volunteers to expand support for children and families.
The program’s impact has always depended on a community willing to show up, whether by volunteering, donating, mentoring, or spreading awareness.
Expanding Beyond County Lines
2026: The mission continues to grow.
With the expansion into Bureau County, La Salle County CASA began the next chapter of its story: becoming CASA of the Illinois Valley.
This expansion reflects a larger commitment that ensures more children throughout the Illinois Valley have access to trained advocates who will stand beside them, speak for them, and help them navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Hope on the Harbor 2025
In 2025, La Salle County CASA introduced Hope on the Harbor, a summer fundraising event designed to bring the community together in support of children navigating the child welfare system.
Inspired by a tropical luau theme, guests gathered for an evening featuring island-inspired food and drinks, live entertainment, raffles, and stories highlighting the impact of CASA advocacy. The event included dinner provided by Sweet Baby Ray’s and entertainment by Aloha Chicago Entertainment, creating a relaxed summer atmosphere where supporters could learn more about CASA while enjoying an evening together.
Beyond the food and festivities, Hope on the Harbor centered around the stories behind CASA’s mission—the children and families impacted by abuse and neglect, and the volunteer advocates who step forward to make sure those children have a voice.
The event brought together community members, sponsors, and supporters to raise critical funds that help recruit, train, and support CASA volunteers serving children in the local court system.
