Peru, IL — CASA of the Illinois Valley is proud to announce that longtime volunteer advocate Lynn Kofoid-Durdan has been recognized as the organization’s Illinois CASA Volunteer Advocate of the Year honoree. 

Lynn’s dedication to children and the CASA mission has made a significant impact on the local program and the children she serves. As a volunteer advocate, Lynn has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure the children assigned to her receive the support, attention, and advocacy they deserve. 

Over the past year, Lynn dedicated 315 volunteer hours serving as a CASA advocate. She regularly visits the children she represents, prepares thorough and timely reports, and maintains consistent involvement in court proceedings and case meetings. 

Beyond her direct advocacy work, Lynn has played a vital role in strengthening the CASA program during a period of significant transition. She volunteered multiple days each week to help the organization review records, update documentation, and ensure compliance with DCFS background check requirements. Her efforts helped the program return to full compliance. 

Lynn also supports fellow volunteers by organizing monthly gatherings where advocates can share experiences, discuss challenges, and continue learning together. She regularly attends the Illinois CASA State Conference and encourages others to continue growing in their advocacy work.
